Life in the time of Covid-19:  Media will Save Us

Thank goodness that during this ‘shelter in place’ time we have so much media and technology!  So many devices.  So little time?  Not anymore.  Now we have time!  Can you imagine what it was like in 1919 during the influenza pandemic when those poor people barely had telephones?  At that time, of course, the population was a lot less, but still, hundreds of thousands or maybe a million people were wiped out.  Interesting though, not much of a baby boom after that pandemic.  Hmmm what do you think was going on then?  What did they do then to fill the time?

On to our time.  People keep asking me what I’m doing with my time.  Really?  What do they think I’m doing?  I work.  I have clients.  The clients call – on the telephone – because they’re locked up with their children and spouses and want to hear an outside voice.  And, they write using one method or three or four others available to them at their fingertips.  They communicate their progress, ask questions and just ruminate ‘cause they’re lonely.  Lonely in their possibly overcrowded homes.

Then I tell the person asking me, what I’m doing to fill up my ‘time’.  Well, I wash my hands about 300 times a day.  I don’t touch my face unless I feel some drool coming out from the edge of my mouth when I look outside thinking about the beach and can’t get there from here.

…. What are you doing to fill your time? …
